Hungry (2.3 MB)
I discovered this song in Sing Out!, the folksong magazine in the very early 1980s out of Easton, PA.  This song is used with permission of Joe Heukerott who at the time had a lovely album available.  There are many different types of hunger.  This song talks about a few.  ©1981 Joe Heukerott.

Cruise (1.7 MB)
This song was written prior to the deployment of the Cruise and Perishing II missiles in Europe.  It was first sung during a rally which followed the Monmouth County Freeze Walk held in Freehold, NJ in the fall of 1983.

U.S. Out of El Salvador (1.9 MB)
I rewrote this song four times, as the changes came down.  Years ago in the early eighties, Reagan called the fascist Arena Party, and Roberto D'Aubisson, a "moderate force" for democracy.  Arena has been too blatant even for Reagan, so the president bought the election for Jose Napoleon Duarte, the "opponent."  With that, he hoped to get more funding to murder the peasants.  Someday, the people of El Salvador WILL be free, in spite of the U.S. government.

Source of the Dance (.93 MB)
I was asked to sing Sherry Mestel's Lady of the Dance, along with verses (#1 and #4) from Sidney Carter's Lord of the Dance.  To complete the circle, I wrote the last two verses, inspired by Betsy Wright, Diane Shamis and Cindy Lazaroff.  Lady of the Dance and other songs, chants, rituals and dreams were in Earth Rites Volume 2 and Volume 3.   ©1978, 1981 Sherry Mestel (verse 1,2/chorus)

Peacemakers (1.4 MB)
In 1982 Jozef felt a need for a positive Memorial Day Service.  He, I and other members of the Monmouth County War Resisters League started what was a tradition for many years, the annual commemoration of the lives of ten of the world's peacemakers.  The service at the time of the production of this album was in its third year and included the planting of a peace tree and flowers in the community.  Peacemakers is a song written by Jozef for the first Alternate Memorial Day Service in 1982.  In includes the first ten peacemakers.  Jozef plays the autoharp.  The flute is our friend Rickie Gold who stayed in NJ long enough to be part of the recording.  ©1982 Jozef Hand-Boniakowski

All Under Control (2.5 MB)
These are the stories of hundreds of thousands of women.  We MUST take back the control of our bodies and our lives.   ©1982 JeanneE Hand-Boniakowski

Hibakusha (1.7 MB)
The Hibakusha are the "survivors" of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  I kept the lyrics simple, like a spare haiku.  Introduced August 6, 1983 on the 36th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima.  The lyrics have since been translated into Japanese.   ©1983 JeanneE Hand-Boniakowski

Almost Forever (1.3 MB)
This is how I first told Joe that I'd fallen in love with him.  We're still falling.

Harvest Child (2.7 MB)
Home.  October 21, 1981.   Just barely Wednesday morning.  At 1:41 a.m., daughter, Guinnevere Hand-Boniakowski was born into her father, Jozef's, hands.  I love you, Guinnevere.   ©1981 JeanneE Hand-Boniakowski

Peacemakers II (1.3 MB)
Jozef wrote this song for the Monmouth County War Resisters League's second Alternate Memorial Day Service.  The second set of ten Peacemakers were harder to choose than the first.  ©1983 Jozef Hand-Boniakowski

Daughter of Eve (1.6 MB)
I was Catholic until my early teens.  More religious now than before, you can call me "Pacifist Pagan Agnostic with a Quaker flair."
