Southern Vermont Veterans For Peace Chapter 88 members, Jozef,
JeanneE and Dylan Hand-Boniakowski, have declared their lawn a War Dead Free
Zone on May 1, 2006. The lawn is being cut by a mechanical hand push
reel mower that
uses no petroleum products to run. No oil/petroleum
products means war casualties.
There is no expense in cutting the lawn
after the initial cost of the push mower, about $90.00.
Benefits include a good aerobic workout contributing to better
health, no exhaust, no smell, no obnoxious noise, quality time
outdoors, and monetary savings, etc. The best benefit is not
contributing to the war dead by not using petroleum products.
Note
to purists: Yeah, yeah. The push lawn mower was built and
delivered using some one-time petroleum products. Better than
driving a gas-guzzling 14-hp John Deere tractor to cut the
grass. No?
Southern
Vermont Veterans For Peace Chapter 88 invites
you to participate by declaring
and making your lawn, no matter how small or big a "War Dead Free
Zone". Let us know what state your War Dead Free Zone
lawn is in. Email us.
Our War Dead Free
Zone is about 1.5 acres in size.
